Penguins fans watched with glee last December when the HBO show 24/7 highlighted  the Pens and Capitals. Bruce Boudreau could not have looked like more of a complete and total moron. Per an article in the Washington Post, he apparently isn’t too pleased about how HBO made him look. Here are a few examples of his great leadership skills in action (and some other great notables):

Does anyone else find it ironic that the Caps have a picture of a Stanley Cup in their locker room but NOT a Winter  Classic banner? They seemed to want that game more!

After the airing of the show, a poll by the CBC revealed that players NOT on the Pittsburgh Penguins would most like to play for Dan Bylsma than any other NHL coach. (Boudreau was not in the rankings.)

So it’s been almost a year since the show aired and now video of Boudrea slamming Dan Bylsma and his family has been revealed.

If you couldn’t hear what Bruce said, he had this to say about Bylsma:

“The part that ticked me off the most was when they started showing their coach. And their coach at Christmas was down in the basement playing with his kid. He’s never played in the basement with his kid. Teaching him, well this is how you do this. Bull****.”

Wow. So Bylsma doesn’t play hockey with his kid in that elaborate set up that they had? He doesn’t eat a nice dinner with his family? If you have seen the episode or have the clip, one thing you will notice about the Bylsma’s Christmas dinner is that there were 5 dinner plates. One can assume from this that they invited the camera  crew from HBO to share dinner with them. All class.

Boudreau can complain all he wants that HBO deliberately made him look bad, but not only does he have barbecue sauce on his face, but he has egg on it now too. He makes himself look bad. He is an absolute PR nightmare. The jealousy displayed here is childish. Bylsma is your colleague and one of your former players and THIS is how you react to him?

HBO doesn’t need to make you look bad, Brucey. You are doing a bang up job all on your own!
